E-cigarette companies hope to have their products on sale in shops by next summer, after being granted exemption from the Tobacco Products Directive.
At the moment, e-cigarette retailers can’t sell e-cigarettes in all areas in all stores and have to limit them to specific zones.

* E-cigarettes are also much less expensive than traditional cigarettes and be less addictive and hazardous to the user’s health and health habits, making them less costly for consumers.
* Health Canada’s experts say that e-cigarettes should not be regulated as medicines. However, this recommendation has not yet been implemented because of lobbying by Big Pharma.

The Department of Health is said to be refusing to provide information about the type of information it wants to keep and whether it is required to give some information.
It is also refusing to disclose how much it wants to spend on its new anti-smoking program and just when the first meetings will be held.
Ministers say they are not hiding anything.
According to their latest annual report, the government spent £2.5 million on the new e-vaping program by 31 April – £2.2 million of which was to run a 30-day education series (i.e., the advertising and sale of e-vapes) in England.
The first meeting of e-vaper lobbyists was held on 6 February.
This includes a meeting between Michael Taylor, chairman of the e-vaping lobby group, the Campaign to Stop Smoking (CSDS) and the Minister for Primary Care, and John O’Donovan
